Experience

Ms. Benita Gordon began her career as a substitute teacher and later became a teacher's aide at Even Start working with special need students.  She also worked part-time as a secretary at the Central Office.  Gordon is completing her into her 14th year as physical educator at Greenwood Elementary School.  She also has nine years of experience coaching girls' basketball ranging from AAU to High School Varsity.



Bio

Ms. Benita Gordon is a product of the Bessemer School System. She graduated from Jess Lanier High School in 1996. Gordon received a full basketball scholarship to Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Health and Physical Education. Coach Gordon also received her Master's of Education in Physical Education from Alabama Sate University. She is the ONLY Physical Education Teacher at Greenwood. Coach Gordon formerly coached Girl's Basketball at Davis Middle School now known as Bessemer City Middle and former head girls’ varsity coach at Bessemer City High School.

Gordon was a receipient of Walmart's Teacher of the Year.
